Contingency Planning has rules to follow is the name of the article but I’m here to tell you some leading companies like Paratus are rewriting those rules!
It’s really quite a good piece and I suggest you read it but here is a snippet that I found to be true as well in many things:
It is possible, nay necessary, to have contingency plans for as many “surprises” as conceivable. The more you effectively plan, the more prepared you will be for eventualities.
The only problem is that you may spend every available moment planning for things that are not likely to occur, thus losing valuable time and other resources for important outcomes.
What if you were to find a way to prepare for more probable outcomes without having to prepare for every single one? Let me suggest how you can do so.
First, though, let me introduce you to or remind you of something called the 80/20 Rule, also known as the Pareto Principle: Approximately 80% of outcomes come from 20% of the sources. Examples: In sales, typically 80% of sales are accounted for by 20% of one’s product line; in profit analysis, 80% of profits come from 20% of one’s clients; in software, by fixing the top 20% most reported bugs, 80% of the errors and crashes would be eliminated; and, in criminology, 80% of crimes are committed by 20% of criminals.
So with that said I guess I’ll start with what we do for Contingency Planning at Paratus Rentals and how we follow our version of the 80/20 rule and here it is:
- 80% of the time when you need a generator everyone else does as well!
- 80% of time you won’t get a generator when you need one!
- 80% of the time if your HVAC fails and it can’t get running within 24 hrs it’s not going to be!
- 80% of the time if your lucky enough to get a rental HVAC or generator your contractors or employees don’t know what to do with it – how to hook it up, how to operate it, how to maintain it
I say this because it’s true! With Contingency Planning that at least addresses the possibility of needing rental utilities at some time is like not having a plan at. At Paratus Rentals we can handle your Contingency Planning needs and execute those plans when needed to provide a truly unique service that we call “One Day Restoration”. Ever have your corporate offices loose HVAC, had technicians there for 2 days and it still does work? The CEO along with the Board is due there the following day?
Watch this video, they may not have had contingency planning that took that into account but they know who to call Paratus Rentals to provide “One Day Restoration” and you should too!
